Connect Driver Mentoring

This programme of driver mentoring targets young people to assist them to pass a drivers license. There are a number of Rotarians that give their time, along with other volunteers in our community.

The programme was devised to meet a need. Some young students and workers were unable to get a licence due to a lack of finances - but the biggest hurdle was that testing only took place in Dannevirke and Hastings. The driver mentoring programme has been a huge success.

Young Employee Of The Year

Every Year in November our club joins with the CHB District Council to choose the Young Employee Of The Year. It is an esteemed award that seeks to recognize and applaud the outstanding efforts of young professionals who make a difference in their workplaces.

In 1994 the Waipukurau Rotary Club established the Young Employee of the Year Awards. Each year the club seeks nominations from employers from around the district to nominate their best and brightest young employee. This award aims to recognise excellence, effort, dedication and making a difference.

Nominations are accepted for full time employees who are between 18 to 30 years old and should display the following attributes. The workplace must be in Central Hawkes Bay.
