This grant scheme is designed to satisfy a need in Central Hawkes Bay where young sports people have considerable costs associated with representing Hawkes Bay or at a higher level. There are families that cannot afford those costs.
If you are a sports person in Central Hawkes Bay then travel and other costs are a huge cost element because the competition is usually out of town – Hastings, Napier, Dannevirke and further afield.
The Waipukurau Rotary Club has established a grant scheme to assist with these costs. Details are below.
The scheme is run and managed by Waipukurau Rotary Club Inc serving Central Hawkes Bay.
Grants will be made to individuals.
Applications will always be open, but regular promotions of the scheme will be made public quarterly.
Applicants will live permanently in Central Hawkes Bay.
Applicants will be in the age group 10 to 18.
Individuals will have been officially selected or qualify to represent the Hawkes Bay region (or higher level) and be able to provide evidence to support this.
Funding will be available to qualifying individuals to cover the costs associated with the sport they have been selected to represent.
The applicant will have to demonstrate a need for the funds and have also demonstrated some initiative to raise funds or support the community.
Individuals will only receive a grant once in a 12-month period.
The maximum grant will be $250, within that 12-month period
A selection committee will consist of two members of the Rotary Club plus one from Sport HB will recommend qualifying applications to the Rotary Club.
Successful grant applications will be referred to the Directors of the Waipukurau Rotary Club who will make the final decision.
The scheme has some flexibility to meet exceptional circumstances.
